Designing a nature friendly, sustainable holiday environment for children next to a protected Natura 2000 landscape. Built mainly from word and based on the principles of the circular economy.

The house for a young family is carefully posited in a beautiful landscape. An elegant, restrained colour palette and choice of materials, such as Bauhaus Travertin, Oak wood, champagned coloured, metallic powder coated aluminium profiles give the villa its unique character.

Reacting on the heterogenes urban context the Heppie House is designed as a simple rectangular building, like children would draw it with a pitched roof and a chimney. The client wished for the highest possible energy efficiency, based on the passive house principles. The Heppie colour concept is also implemented in this project.

The villa is characterised by two connected, subtly folded zinc roofs, which together with the pergola, floating underneath, define the interior and exterior of the house and anchor it in the context.

Elongated walls, open corner spaces, which can be separated from each other with sliding doors, as well as storey-high glazing facades allow diverse, attractive spatial relations inside the house as well as with the patio and garden.

The creation of a positive, safe and stimulating live and play climate, where children quickly feel at home, was the guideline to the design concept in harmony with the landscape.
